Three Popular Resorts
I thought it'd be interesting to
compare three resorts that are among the most popular on Koh Chang.
Paradise Resort, Koh Chang Resort & Klong Prao Resort. They are all located
at the northern end of Klong Prao beach. As you'll see one of them
needs to do some catching up.
Paradise Resort
An interesting water feature, they also
have a rockery near the entrance to the resort which give the place a
Flintstones feel. Yabba Dabba Doo!

From near the beach looking back across
the pool and reception to the hills behind the resort.

Common FAQ "How close to the beach are
the beachfront bungalows?" This photo should provide the answer.

New Spa building, a huge place built in
a modern Thai style and run by Bodiwork Spa

Check in, walk out of reception when
you arrive and you'll see the pool area with the sea in front of you.

Klong Prao Resort
The first view you'll see when you go
through the entrance to the resort.

Looking across the lagoon. New
rooms on the right face the beach, older, cheaper rooms are on the left.

One of the new bungalows. A huge
improvement on the shacks that were there until late 2005. Not luxurious but
comfortable and with everything you need.

Walk across the footbridge connecting
the cheap rooms with those nearer the beach and you can stop and feed the
hundreds of fish in the lagoon.

VIP rooms are in blocks right by the
beach

The new bungalows aren't right on the
sand but are only 20 metres away and all back onto the lagoon.

The pool. There is a sign saying
that sunloungers cant be reserved. Ignore it, everyone does, this
seemingly calm area turns into a war zone in high season with tourists
battling to be first to secure the best located sunbed with their towels.

Looking north a long the beach at very
high tide.

Koh Chang Resort & Spa
The entrance and new hotel building, no
it doesn't have any lifts to the fourth floor

It'd be nice to think that the
welcoming mural near reception was done by local primary school kids.
Unfortunately it wasn't.

The art of architectural design is
alive and well in Thailand, but not here.

The pool area, not one of the largest
hotel pools on the island but the sea is far more inviting.

Sponsored by Kelloggs? The Thai Egg
Council? Why have a cock overlooking the pool?

Nearby an old Chinese guy has seen
enough and resorts to a quick hit from his opium pipe. I know how he
feels.

One man's boutique beachfront bungalow
is another's 'A' frame hut.
