Korat and around
First stop on the parental visit was4 nights in Korat at the Dusit Princess
Hotel, the nicest place in town but the fact that that the town has a
population of over quarter of a million and only two good hotels tells you
that it isn't somewhere you'd stay unless you had your own vehicle to get
out of there. We chose it as a base simply because it is a good location
from which to visit Khao Yai National Park as well as old ruins.
Photos
Phanom Rung - this temple sits on top
of an extict volcano that rises a couple of hundred metres up off the
plateau.

Small silk factory we found when driving around a village.

Phimai - the largest and best resored of the old Khymer ruins in this area

Ban Prasat - Archaeologists discovered settlements dating back to 3000BC
beneath this village, there are three places where you can see the remains
and also a small museum

Khao Yai National Park - We took the old people for a walk in the jungle.
There are several trails that you can follow, no need for a guide.
Lots of monkeys, butterflies and a crocodile. The waterfall is the one
that was in the movie 'The Beach'
