The Dewa Resort, Koh Chang
Pre-opening photos of the almost
complete resort
This is probably the most originally
designed resort on the island and so wont be to everyone's taste. But
if you're tired of your Thai resorts all looking like boring concrete blocks
or being of a generic modern tropical Thai style and looking for something a
little different then it's worth checking out.
Walk into the lobby, look up and where
you might expect to find a chandelier, you find this.

View looking towards the lobby, at at the far end of
the pool. On the right are the Deluxe rooms, on the opposite side of
the pool is the restaurant.

Inside the restaurant.

Looking from the restaurant across to the Deluxe rooms
opposite

No concrete has been painted, all is left unfinished.
Contrast will be provided by wooden deck areas and cladding and extensive
tropical greenery.

Stairs leading to the Twin rooms that occupy the first
floor, the ground floor is home to double rooms.

Inside the bathroom of a twin room, looking into the
bedroom area. All bathrooms in the Deluxe rooms have glass partitions
that look from the bedroom area into the bathroom. These can be
opened, closed or covered by curtains - depending on the level of modesty
required.

Inside a Double room - the bed is placed in the centre
of the room.

The Villa rooms. These circular rooms are
located near the beach. One criticism is that the balconies face each
other and so aren't as private as they could be. But if you're the
sociable type then it should be no problem.

The villas, a different design with a kind of thatched
cover over the concrete.

Access to the upper rooms is via stairs inside the
'roof'

Villa bedroom interior. Sofr furnishings and artwork
contrast with the concrete walls.

Villa bathroom. In front is the shower area.
Up the steps on the right is the bathtub and behind me is the toilet area.

The two beachfront suites. These comprise a
lower living area and upstairs bedroom area and have uniterrupted sea views.
The type of room you'd book if you were on honeymoon or celebrating a
special occasion.
