October 2006 - A Visit to Koh Mak after the rainy season

The photos on this page show the estate of construction as of late October 2006.   The land was originally overgrown brush & jungle.  Preparatory work only began in early 2006, clearing the land, keeping only the large trees for shade.  So in less that 9 months, including a month or so during the rainy season when work was impossible due to the bad weather the development has gone from being raw land to having two house fully completed and several more under construction with the aim to complete them by the end of the year.  The final end date for all construction here is late 2007.  This allows for a couple of months during high season when no heavy construction work will take place in order to avoid disturbing guests at nearby resorts.

Buyers are regularly updated on the progress of their own house by the way of photos taken regularly.

January 2008 - Original GoodTime development virtually complete.  All family villas in neighbouring plot due for completion in mid-2008 or sooner. Six Jungle land houses completed or well under construction and due for completion before start of 2008/9 high season.

These two-storey houses look out over the development onto the sea.

Landscaping has begun grass being laid and over 500 palms and dozens of other plants already in place.  When I visited I slept in one of the completed houses, this was the sunrise view from the balcony

Looking towards the sea from the restaurant on site, the dirt track on the right runs down to one beach - about 5 minutes walk away & Koh Rayang is in the distance through the haze.  Buyers here have free access to the private island of Koh Rayang & when they're on the island they have a nice white sand beach to laze on. (The island will also have a wi-fi connection in the near future.)
