- Around the island in a day
Some of our guests wanted a tour round the
island so rather than have them pay 1,000 baht a head to sit in a minivan,
only see a couple of places on the west coast, be taken to seafood restaurants
regardless of whether they want to eat there or not and miss out on seeing
anything of the east coast.

After a late breakfast at Nature Rocks where my guests got to mingle with some real backpackers it was down to Bangbao for a look around It wasnt yet 11am so some of the workers were still sleeping off their breakfast beer. Not wanting to disturb his slumber, our guests bought their advance tickets to Koh mak elsewhere. Another of the obligatory stops at viewpoints - this one overlooking Bangbao. And then it was back up the west coast - not bothering to stop anywhere as they'd 'done' Kai Bae, Klong Prao,
White Sand Beach already. So we went to see the elephant camp in Klong Son. They went and rode an elephant around for a while while I hung around and discussed Chelsea's chances of winning the treble with a couple of mahouts. Soemthing I hadnt seen here before was one of the mahouts Mum's doing a bit of silk weaving. Heading down the east coast - stopping only to look at a few fruit trees, rubber plantations etc which they hadn't seen before we ended up in Salakkok. It was late afternoon and the fishermen were off out for the night. Needless to say there were no other tourists around here. From Salakkok we headed down to the south-eastern tip of the island as they wanted some good views of islands off shore and the mountains inland. The hillside at Hat Yuthanavy is disappearing rapidly. I'm not sure where the hillside is being moved to but it's all being done well away from any prying eyes. Nothing much of note down the road, but the backpcakers favourite resort - Treehouse has relocated to Long Beach. From here it was round to Salakphet Seafood for dinner under the full moon and then back home at around 8pm.
